IN THE TWINKLE OF AN EYE 2

Continuation...........................................

The pastor was no longer on the pulpit. Where could he have gone to in the middle of a sermon? He took a quick scan of the choir stand and saw most chairs empty only few remained. Even Joyce who was on a wheelchair was no were in sight. Where could she have gone to leaving her wheelchair behind? He ran to the deacons seats in the church but his dad was not there. By this time, the whole church was in chaos; people were crying and talking in groups. With fast steps he walked out of the church and ran into his friend Emeka who breathlessly confirmed that people were disappearing in the church without a trace. Running as fast as he could he ran the 10 miles journey home thinking his dad was home but on getting home, the house was empty. He remembered his aunt was coming to visit them that day so he called to know if such was happening over her place too but her number was not going through. Slowly he slumped into a nearby couch and it dawned on him that rapture had taken place. As if ministered to by some force, he put on the television set and  the first station he connected to reported about people missing across the world and most people disappearing where Christians. He broke down in tears and couldn’t bring himself to admit he was really left behind. If only he had listened to his father. Lord give me another chance ….. Have mercy on me lord… he cried.
  ***    ***    ***    ***
With tears he woke up. Though in a fully air – conditioned room, his pillow was soaked in sweat. It was not a Sunday morning neither had rapture taken place. It was all a dream after all. Standing up from his bed he moved towards his dad’s room to confirm if he was in the room but met him at the door. I missed rapture dad... I missed it was all he could say before he broke down in tears. His father prayed for him and led him back to Christ.

Are you still on the right path? Are you in the church but not on the track? Everything will happen in the twinkle of an eye and the son of man shall come back to take his saints. It’s not yet late to turn back to Christ but a second later might be.

IN THE TWINKLE OF AN EYE

Wrote this in 2014, all characters are fictitious. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Tope born into a religious home, lost his mother at a tender age of six. Left in his father’s care, he had to adapt to the rule of not getting everything he wanted. After his mother’s demise, Tope’s father took the responsibility of leading him to Christ and nurturing him in a godly way. Tope took a liking to drums and his skills were unparalleled everywhere he went. A young, handsome and brilliant chap, every girl wanted him but he never allowed that get into him. He knew the dangers behind immorality, he was an advocate of sexual purity and remained a staunch Christian. Getting admission into the university was not a problem for him and at the age of 16 he was in his second year. During his second year, Tope’s personality changed. He made friends with really questionable character. The once fervent tope grew wings and became a master of ungodly acts. Sin became his best friend but he still went to church as usual and did his normal church activities so no one noticed. Back at home during the semester break his dad noticed the change in behaviour and questioned him about those he moved with. I’m okay with them dad……you don’t know them so don’t judge them,he told his dad rudely.
It was a cool saturday evening, Tope had invited his friends over for a party since his dad wont be expected back home till the following day. Music blared loudly from the stereos, smoking and drinking was the order of the day. Unknown to Tope his dad would arrive earlier than scheduled.Tope's father got home and was so shocked to see what his abode had been turned into.
His father realised how deep the worm of backsliding had eaten into his Christian life and sent heartfelt prayers to the lord on Tope’s behalf to retrace his steps every now and then but Tope seemed to grow worse. He had extended his number of girlfriends to the choristers in church.

It was a chilly Sunday. The downpour the night before was terrific; so many rooftops were blown off. Tope was not bothered about that, his mind was centred on the melodious voice of Mary he would hear in church and how his skills on drums would move in harmony with her voice. Fasting every Sunday was already a tradition in his house so he took his bath hurriedly and went to church with his dad. He noticed everywhere was unusually quiet but concluded it must have been the heavy downpour hence everyone was cold. Upon the opening prayer said by the pastor’s wife, the choir moved up stage for the worship section and his skills on drums was powerful. The pastor came up for the sermon and talked about the reality of heaven and hell. To tope the sermon was boring but he dared not mutter it out to Charles his seating partner. Why? He had always cautioned Charles on saying Gods word was boring when the going was good. The shouts from the congregation jolted him out of his thoughts.Everyone seemed in a haste and ran helter skelter.

To be continued.............................

What happened? pour out your thoughts while waiting for the concluding part

FREESTYLE 4; SHOPPING AND PURSES

Ladies in the house this is for you and guys, you sure can learn from this so if that future wifey needs it, you can teach her. *winks

Ladies matter...

You see...recently, I kind of have a closer relationship with my purse. I'm sure you know what a purse is. When you go shopping, before entering the mall or market or supermarket or whatever at all, you have an idea of what you are going to get. You sure won't enter a shopping mall for clothes when you need to get chocolates. So we practically have ideas.
Not all ladies pen down what to buy and it really doesnt make you less potential 'cos sometimes we get too busy or one thing or the other restricts us from doing so. See this...

I go into a supermarket after a very tedious day with no list, hoping to pick up whatever I need by just looking round. I see a pack of sausages, I pick. I see noodles, I pick. I check their price tags and glance through my purse. Still on track. I move forward. I see a tin of powdered milk. Oh no! My milk finished long ago and its really needed. I glance through my purse and stare into space trying to sum up their prices. Then, the purse speaks
Purse: do you really need the sausage?
Me: erm...I didnt think of buying that before now.
Purse: you dont need it; you just want to spend from me.
Me: hmm...okay, I'll drop the sausage.

Sausage shakes its head and crawls back into its base. Sorry dear sausage, my milk is more important. Sometimes, we need to ask ourselves if we need some things at all. Either we've got the money or not. I've met ladies that are shopaholic. Whatever they see that interests them gets to be theirs in less than 24 hours. You can work on that. It isnt a good habit.Writing your list is very important too. Most times, I write what I need to get and the supposed price or the range- for the ones I'm not too sure of. And I take the amount to spend along with me with just few extras in case of little changes in price or emergencies so as not to get stuck. But knowing what exactly you need makes you potential. To be potent is being efficacious, influential. A potential lady respects her purse, knows how to deal with money and will definitely make her husband proud... Be one!

FREESTYLE 3; HE SAID, SHE SAID, THEY SAID.

There's this lady I know of, so gentle, hardly talks, has a wonderful listening ear, and lots more. I remember vividly her reply when I told her to write an article for the freestyle challenge. Read on and be blessed. I love you all!!!!

I said I love you
He said  love who? The guy who can't keep his promises?
She said love who? The guy who cant keep his money?
They said love who? The guy we see with a lot of girls, here and there?

I said I wanted to know you
He said he was your roommate. He had all the information.
She said you grew up together. She knew you as a child.
They said you were their class rep. They knew how you would respond under pressure.
 Chai. Famzers.

So I listened. I listened to them and they substituted you.
I didnt bother listening to you or picking your calls.
When I heard you were with Mary.
I didnt bother asking what you felt or thought,
I didnt bother confirming all the stories.
I wonder;Did I ever love you?
Was I ever interested in you?
Why was it easier to listen to them?

You were too perfect. It was too surreal.
It was too good to be true.
That's it. Too good to be true.

Your love unconditional.
I was scared. So I ran.
But, you've got this pull;Mesmerizing.
There's something about you.
When I barged in on you that day, I wanted to end it all.

 You listened, never interrupting,
Never raising your voice at me, the truth you said to me.
Never knew I had  a comforter who would show me all things,
So I left, in righteous anger.
I was angry at someone who did me no wrong.
I came back with my tail in between in my legs.
And you.. you'll never forget the way you looked at me.
So much love in your eyes, acceptance.
There was no anger in there,
no hate, no judgment.
It really made me wonder anew,
It piqued my already curious mind
And I asked, for the first time, who are You?
You quoted something you said a while ago "Walk with me

FREESTYLE 2 ; YOUR RACE!!!!!!

This article you are about reading was written by a friend of mine,a lady I  so much respect. Yes she's chic, a lady of worth *wink*.  Ow her name? OLOYEDE  TOLU

Enjoy!!!

With energy and vigour, Chuks kept running on his lane. He kept a straight face and had his focus right. The sound of cheers from his supporters boosted his morale and an encouraged Chuks kept running, maintaining the third position. Suddenly, he took a quick look at the front and he saw Kunle and Victor ahead running with all their might. Oh not again!!! he thought, these duo have been a tough one for him. In previous races, he had tried defeating them but to no avail. Kunle was taking the lead with the first position while Victor was trailing behind with the second position. I have to show them today, chuks swore.

                    ****   ****   ****   ****    ****   ****   ****   ****   ****

His gaze shifted from his lane to Kunle’s lane. His swift body swept past Victor making him the custodian of the second position, one more to go he smiled to himself. Alas! the finish line was here, Chuks was happy he bagged the second position. His joy was cut short when the umpire told him he was disqualified. For what, how? were the questions written on his face. Unknown to Chuks, he had crossed over to Kunle’s lane while running. His gaze and attention was all on Kunle that he didn’t notice that costly mistake.

Dear reader, are you in any way like chuks? This is a reminder to us to always be mindful of our lane in this race of life. Don’t copy others to the extent that you become a shadow of yourself. Its good to have role models fine, but don’t be so obsessed that you just want to do everything they do. That which is good for them may be bad for you. There is something so
unique about you let it out, come out of your shell. Launch out, find out that which you’ve been called to do, don’t sing because your friend sings, sing because you have that calling. Remember, it is your race run it, don’t run someone else’s race. I hope its not late to tell you this, HAPPY NEW YEAR.
