For the next few weeks, I'd be featuring articles written by friends and fellow bloggers. It's a freestyle challenge BE EXPECTANT!!!!!!!
Happy new year to you reading this. I believe God has great plans for for you this New year.
It’s a New year right? This is the period we make new RESOLUTIONS. You make new goals that you claim determination to achieve. Have you tried looking at your resolutions last year? I am 100% sure you didn’t achieve close to half unless you have an idea of the principles I want to share with you this day. The problem is that our RESOLUTIONS are not always RESOLUTE.
RESOLUTE means firm, determined, unwavering. Though to meet your desired goals you need more than determination which helps to accomplish 50%, you also need the principles to make it a complete achievement.
PRINCIPLES
The principles are divided into five stages in hierarchical order.
Dream
Goal
Plan
Act
Reality (DGPAR)
Dream: Dreams are mostly wishes. What we wish is a dream. We all have dreams for the year. For instance, a dream can be like
" A guy wishing to stop watching pornography". That is a dream, because he wishes to be free from the guilt of been addicted to such dirty act. I want to be free from smoking, drinking. I want to get married, go to school, get closer to God all these are dreams. So the first step is to Dream.
Goal: Now that you have a dream, did you ask yourself what’s next? The next step is to set a goal for yourself. I believe goals are not just said but written down. Dreams are imagined with the mind eye while goals are written down. I need to stop masturbating this year, I need to get married, I need to be in school, I need to stop watching pornography and so on are only called goals when written down and set as an objective. Make your goals definite. You can’t set a goal you didn’t dream. Also note that goals go along with DATES. Set dates as deadline to your goals.
Plan: Goals will remain just goals until you take the next step. Planning, is breaking goals down, strategising, evaluating, and summarising it. This is the stage many people miss in achieving their goals. For your goals to be in reality, you must plan. During my secondary school days, I loved a quote which says "if you fail to plan you are planning to fail". Goals without plans leads to failure, frustration, and fatigue.
How do I plan? You plan by breaking your goal to the simplest form or smaller particles like "WEATHERING" in geography or simplest form in "MATHS". With my earlier example, probably your goal is I want to stop watching Pornography and Masturbating this year. Then you plan by, analysing the cause of those things you do, internet, magazine, novels, opposite sex, television and
so on. During this process, you will have great plans on what to do to stop the act. Plan! Plan!! This will make you work easier. You act and demonstrate on those plans you have set. Take drastic actions in actualizing those goals. Read more books to pass that exam, throw that pornography magazines away and so on. Your actions make power available to your goals. I love one of my recent quotes which says "For your plans to be in action you need to act on your plans". Take that bold step it will change your life.
Reality: This is not actually a step but the reward accrued to the other steps. If you can dream, set goals, plan and act on them then, your RESOLUTIONS would be RESOLUTE. DREAMS backed up with a date becomes a GOAL which is broken down into steps becomes a PLAN backed up your ACT before it becomes a REALITY.
