Continuation...........................................
The pastor was no longer on the pulpit.
Where could he have gone to in the middle of a sermon? He took a quick scan of
the choir stand and saw most chairs empty only few remained. Even Joyce who was
on a wheelchair was no were in sight. Where could she have gone to leaving her wheelchair
behind? He ran to the deacons seats in the church but his dad was not there.
By this time, the whole church was in chaos; people were crying and talking in
groups. With fast steps he walked out of the church and ran into his friend Emeka
who breathlessly confirmed that people were disappearing in the church without
a trace. Running as fast as he could he ran the 10 miles journey home thinking
his dad was home but on getting home, the house was empty. He remembered his
aunt was coming to visit them that day so he called to know if such was
happening over her place too but her number was not going through. Slowly he
slumped into a nearby couch and it dawned on him that rapture had taken place.
As if ministered to by some force, he put on the television set and the first station he connected to reported
about people missing across the world and most people disappearing where Christians.
He broke down in tears and couldn’t bring himself to admit he was really left behind.
If only he had listened to his father. Lord give me another chance ….. Have
mercy on me lord… he cried.

With tears he woke up. Though in a fully
air – conditioned room, his pillow was soaked in sweat. It was not a Sunday
morning neither had rapture taken place. It was all a dream after all. Standing
up from his bed he moved towards his dad’s room to confirm if he was in the
room but met him at the door. I missed rapture dad... I missed it was all he
could say before he broke down in tears. His father prayed for him and led him
back to Christ.
Are you still on the right path? Are you
in the church but not on the track? Everything will happen in the twinkle of
an eye and the son of man shall come back to take his saints. It’s not yet late
to turn back to Christ but a second later might be.
